|
The project concerns the organisation of a site in the southern part of Rimini and the design of a building to house shops on the ground floor and offices on the upper floors. The building is located opposite a major junction and has an L-shaped plan.
It is entered at the point where the two bars of the “L” meet. The entrance is characterised by a deep fracture in the building opposite the junction. This contrasts with the compact mass of the curved façades. They are covered on the street side by a sort of green “skin”, so as to create a compact urban front. The courtyard façade is made from timber. The external envelope is composed of glass screens and steel cables that are fixed to the structure of walkways that give access to the offices. Climbing plants are trained on this façade, creating the appearance of a vertical garden and calling to mind ivy-covered buildings. At the back the two façades facing the interior of the lot form a 90° angle creating a sheltered space suitable for a garden or covered piazza.
