history |

The construction of the building was decided by the “Works Progress Administration (WPA)”, an agency promoted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to give work to all of the labourers left unemployed by the Depression. The building was recently enlarged by “Fletcher Farr Ayotte Architects”, Portland, Oregon. |

characteristics |

The hotel is situated at an altitude of approximately 1800 m (6000 feet), and in winter, snow completely submerges the ground floor. The entrance is therefore through a tunnel or directly onto the first floor. |
